Basically honest, but located in the sticks and they probably see one Audi a year if that. The shop is telling me that they need to remove the engine to remove the cylinder head (s). They say that three sources (Alldata, etc.) tell them they need to remove the engine to remove the cylinder head (s) and that labor for removing engine is 26 hours.
A: Be prepared to write a sizable check. As you might guess, the basic carbon removal is very labor-intensive, typically eight to ten hours. On the other hand parts costs are minimal, and include a few gaskets and seals. I got estimates of $1500.00 from two dealers, and $1300.00 and $1000.00 from two independent shops.

Unbolt the coolant overflow bottle and swing it out of the way. Make sure to disconnect the coolant level sensor underneath as well. The top nut securing the engine mount is to the left of the oil filter. Use a short extension to get some clearance and remove the fastener. Make sure that you have the engine supported.
Loctite 7061 (which is commercially available) can be used to clean the threads. Seal the new securing bolts for the drive plate/two-mass flywheel (Figure 6), on the crankshaft flange with Loctite 648 (part number D 154100A1, or commercially available). The area marked in red (Figure 6) must be cleaned and be completely free of grease.

Said I had 200 miles or so before the engine would not start. Bought 2 large containers of adblue from the stealership and filled up the tank. I read on the forums (this and others) that either the sensor would reset itself or I could perform a hard reset by turning the ignition ti run for 20 seconds to a minute.
